| The Assessment of Prior Experiential Learning's
(APEL) policies and procedures comply with the standards of divisions, individual faculty,
the State Board of Education and Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. |
 |
Recognizing that learning takes place in many
environments, Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) offers the
Portfolio Completion course to help identify and evaluate the learning acquired
outside the traditional college classroom. This process of identifying skills,
knowledge, and values should prove to be a positive experience. Analyzing ones
strengths can increase self-esteem which leads to personal growth and even career changes. |
| The assessment process does not make value
judgments about one's life experiences but rather it places value on
the learning accomplished. The portfolio will be assessed on its own merit to determine
the credit earned. |
