Driver's Training and Vehicle Use
Requirements
Prior to driving a Lewis-Clark State College
owned vehicle the following requirements must be met:
A. The operator of a LCSC owned vehicle, or private vehicle must possess a
valid operator's license. Possession of this license shall be adequate proof
of ability to drive unless the driver has restrictions. Revocation of the
operator's license must be reported to the Administrative Services office.
B. Individuals who operate a college-owned, leased or private vehicle on a
regular basis while conducting college business are encouraged to attend a
defensive driving training program. Departments and units are encouraged to
require defensive driving training for individuals prior to the operation of
the vehicles.
C. All drivers and passengers must be LCSC employees or authorized
participants in the sponsoring department’s course, program, or event that
is requiring the use of a college owned vehicle. No passenger shall be
allowed that is not conducting official State business as defined by the
State of Idaho Controller’s Office use of State vehicles policy.
D. Defensive driving training is mandatory for individuals involved in an
at-fault accident while operating a motor vehicle for college business.
Individuals have six months to complete training following the at-fault
accident and may continue to operate a motor vehicle for college business
during that time unless determined otherwise by their department or unit. If
an individual does not attend the training during the six-month grace
period, driving privileges for college business will be revoked until the
training requirement has been satisfied. Please contact Administrative
Services for information on defensive driving training courses.
E. All authorized drivers of college 15-passenger vans must complete a
college van safety-driving course, as sponsored by Administrative Services,
before they operate a 15-passenger van. Please contact Administrative
Services to take the course.
When renting a 15-passenger van from an outside agency on Lewis-Clark State
College business, the authorized college vehicle driver must complete the
van safety-driving course.
