Provost Report
Special Course Fees: The draft course fee proposal was
distributed. The fee listed will be
refined this week and submitted for approval so in will be place for
registration. Provost Morris noted that
additional discussions and development of a policy process is underway. Course fees contribution significantly to
the instructional budget and a policy will formalize how to utilize and control
fees. Fees collected are distributed to
individual instructional units for teaching expenses only. Provost Morris requested Council members to review
and advise her if any of the proposed fees need more clarification.
NASC Accreditation
Visit: The NASC accreditation visitation
is scheduled for April 11. An external
evaluator will be on campus for a one-day progress visit. Provost Morris will share the draft report
prepared for NASC in preparation for the progress visit with the President’s
Council and will ask for the Council’s assistance in identifying support
materials. The external evaluator will
receive our report in advance of the visit and will identify who he or she will
meet with while on campus. Provost
Morris believes the institution has aggressively addressed NASC’s
1999 recommendations. We will have an opportunity
to address the evaluator’s findings and then the evaluation will be submitted
to the commission for determination.
Presidential Guidance
Planning Document: LC will have an

Vice President for Student Affairs Report
Tenth Day Report was distributed. Dr. Meier requested feedback on report
format. Discussion followed regarding
specific statistics, and comments were made regarding policy implications to
the institution and to the students, i.e., definition of full time load vs. per
credit.
Student Health Insurance: Dr. Meier reported that we are on schedule
with negotiating the student health insurance policy. The goal is to find the most inexpensive
policy for the best possible coverage.
Several questions still need to be addressed. It appears to be certain that students will
be charged, and upon proof of insurance, the charge will be backed out. There are complex issues with how financial
aid will apply. The intent is to intermix athletic insurance coverage and general student
insurance for the best rate.
Food Service:
The Request For Proposals will go out on Food
Services next week. All contacts must be
run through the state purchasing department. We will be searching for long-term
quality service.
