President's Council Meeting Summary

Calendar Review

Calendars for October and November were distributed noting President’s travel and major campus events.

Update on Intranet

The Exchange server has a corrupted disk, but is functional this morning.  Information Technology was unable to recover everything.  The best course of action was to resorted to the backup from Friday.  Anything sent on Monday has been lost.  A new server has been ordered.  IT is still reviewing the source of the corruption. 

 

President’s Update

 

  • President’s Medallion:  The President’s Medallion is presented to individuals whose actions have significantly affected or influenced Lewis-Clark State College.   President Thomas called for suggestions for recipients of the 2003 President’s Medallion.  Nominations should have been of service to higher education in the state, region and particularly to Lewis-Clark State College.

 

  • Raffle Decision:  President Thomas refused the request from the Diesel Mechanics Club to raffle a gun for a fund raising effort.   The institution has a policy banning guns from campus.

 

 

Provost and Vice Presidents’ Reports

 

Community Programs:  The Coeur d’Alene LCSC Day is scheduled for October 28.  The event provides opportunities for the Lewiston and NIC counterparts to connect.  Events planned for the day include meetings to discuss articulation agreements, transfer programs (2+2 programs), an open house and tour of the facility.  A banquet for LCSC and NIC colleagues is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.   Negotiations are continuing for LC to move into the Harbor Center. 

 

Administrative Services:  The steam lines have been repaired and heat was restored on Tuesday.  Twenty-two new lights have been installed on campus and in the Fourth Street parking lot.

 

 

Direct Reporting Units

 

Athletic Report: 

 

  • President Thomas presented a report of average GPAs for athletes by sport and gender for 2001-2202 and 2002-2003.  

 

  • The Warrior Booster Club is being revived this fall.  The Board of Directors include Chip Damoto, Mike Ripley, Terry Otte, Joe Watson, Dean Froehlich and Jamie White.  The fall membership drive is underway.  This year’s goal is $20,000 (double last year’s goal).  The winter  sports luncheon is scheduled for November 12 at the Williams Conference Center.  The luncheons are fundraising luncheons.  Also planned are a booster bus trip to a Spokane Chiefs hockey game on November 8, and a pre-game function for booster club members on January 16.  

 

Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment Report

 

  • Timeline and President’s Guidelines for Unit Reports will be distributed through the supervisory chain.
  • Fact sheet draft will be distributed for update very soon.
  • Assessment questionnaire will be distributed to instructional programs.

 

 

Student Affairs:  The Northwest Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NWASAP)  held their fall conference this past week.  Lewis-Clark State College was well represented.  Dee Dee Kanikkeberg was the conference program coordinator, and President Thomas was the keynote speaker.

 

Faculty Senate: 

  • The Faculty Affairs Committee has prioritized the sabbatical request.
  • All committees have met and are working on different concerns.

 

College Advancement:  The Telefund has raised $5,500 dollars.  Many contacts are requiring further checks.
