Deloitte & Touche: Information Technology Audit - Carmen Rahm

The annual Information Technology infrastructure audit was recently completed. The audit comments noted that LC accomplished prior recommendations from previous year’s reports. The information systems control environment has improved three-fold from years previous. The challenge is to remain consistent in the application of these controls and by keeping the guiding documents up to date and relevant to the environment.

New comments from 2002 Review

1. Development of test environment

We do not have adequate test environment.

2. Business continuity assessment/disaster recovery testing

We have developed the disaster recovery plan, but we do not have the back-up server to provide business continuity.

IPEDS Graduation Rate Survey of Spring 2002 - Chet Herbst

The IPEDS Graduation Rate Survey determines the percentage of students that start and finish their degree at the reporting school.

The survey this year looked at a cohort group of all first-time, first-year, degree-seeking students who started in the Fall of 1995. Both four-year degree students (academic) and two- or one-year degree students (technical) were included. The results for the cohort group are as follows:

Total Cohort

Academic

Technical

Men

155

103

52

Women

197

143

Total

352

246

Under the terms of this survey, a student is counted in the positive graduation rate if they complete their degree in 150% of the time it normally takes to finish their chosen degree. For example, if a student seeking a bachelor’s degree (normal completion time is four years) finishes in six years or less, they are counted in the positive graduation rate. The numbers of those students who completed their degrees within 150% of the time are as follows:

Total Cohort

Academic

Technical

Men

Women

Therefore, the percentages of those that completed their degrees within 150% of the normal time are:
