President's Council Meeting Summary

LC Student Art Exhibit/SBOE Reception

A reception is planned for the opening of the LCSC Student Art Exhibit at the Center for Arts and History on Thursday, November 15, at 5:00 p.m. Guests visiting campus for the State Board of Education meeting will be invited. President Thomas asked members of the President's Council to attend and assist with hosting the event.

Activity Center Campaign Completion

The Activity Center capitol campaign has met its initial goal of $1.5 million. More than three hundred individuals, alumni, businesses and community organizations supported the local campaign for the Activity Center. LCSC students will contribute $2 million toward the cost of building the center, through fees assessed over the next 25 years. Jody Oftelie will explore recommendations for donors to now extend their contribution to other focuses, such as a scholarship initiative.

Word Mark Transition

Jody Oftelie presented a proposed timeline for transition of the new Word Mark. November 1 is the date targeted for introduction to the campus and community. President Thomas noted that departments will be given reasonable time to utilize their stationery inventory. Jody Oftelie will check with the Purchasing Officer to learn of state-wide contracts or other guidelines that must be followed to implement the word mark. She also will investigate copyright implications.

Governor’s Policy Analyst Campus Visit

The Governor’s Policy Analyst Bill Ruud will visit campus on Tuesday, November 13, to discuss financing higher education in Idaho with LC representatives. President Thomas is inviting the President’s Council to join in the discussion scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to Noon in SUB 143.

Strategic Planning Update

The strategic planning process is being refined, and the protocol is being outlined for presentation to President Thomas. This topic will appear on the President's Council agenda each week for an update.

The next President's Council will be on Wednesday, October 24, at 9:00 a.m., in the Alumni Board Room.
