Financing Higher Education

A discussion for President’s Council regarding Financing Higher Education in Idaho is scheduled on Tuesday, November 13, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. There will not be an additional President’s Council meeting on Wednesday, November 14.

New Web Page Reactions

LC Web Master Karla McCann join the President's Council to hear reactions to the new web page launched October 15. Individuals shared comments that they have heard—comments are very positive. A suggestion was made to provide web page links to institutional data and facts collected through the Office of Institutional Research.

Strategic Planning Update

Chet Herbst reported that strategic planning track I is well underway with Administrative Services and Student Affairs. A preplanning meeting is scheduled with division chairs to prepare for their individual track I division meetings. Templates are being developed for Track II and Track III planning/reporting.

State Board of Education

Equity Study

The State Board heard a report from the board-appointed group (comprised of three board members and staff) who reviewed the presidents' recommendations and the MGT study. Their report raised additional questions that now require review by the provosts and financial vice presidents.

Student Fees

Idaho’s economic outlook is not good. The general sense is that institutions should be making plans for larger budget holdbacks and requesting substantial fee increases. The presidents will serve notice in November that they will be requesting more than the ten percent cap now on student fee increase requests.

Grant History/Statistics

Ray Sanders provided a comparison of grant applications submitted and awarded since fiscal year 1995. The comparison of grant applications submitted and awarded for FY01 and 02 is noted below.
