Discussion:

Wellness Program – Susan Odom

The wellness committee has been established for a few years, but the wellness program was just established last year. Odom brought a proposal requesting money for the program, primarily for lab work. Sanders asked if there would be a break in insurance since LCSC has a wellness program, but Froehlich checked on it last year and there is not. Regan asked if this would qualify for the Institutional Development Proposal program. Lohrmeyer asked if the lab work could be paid for by insurance if it were tied in with a personal doctor visit. The interpretation could be done by the wellness committee. Odom will check with the labs that do the billing. This might increase cost to insurance if more people were forced to have a physical. Thomas said the Council will look at the proposal.

2% Holdback – Froehlich

A report is due to the Governor by September 24, but the SBOE wants one by September 10. The Governor does not want an across-the-board cut, he would like structural changes. This actually fits in with the LCSC strategic plan and the changes that need to be made on campus. The assumption is that the activity center will not be affected. Froehlich distributed a draft proposal of LCSC’s plan. He suggests giving each of the 4 areas (President, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Financial Affairs) a target, rather than an across-the-board cut. Froehlich needs feedback by Thursday late afternoon.

Enrollments – Meier

Meier distributed a handout on headcount, FTE, and class standing. To date, there is approximately a 7.8% increase in headcount from last year.

LCSC Word Mark – Oftelie

LC does not have a logo, but uses a word mark. Advantage Advertising worked up a new word mark last year and Oftelie showed an example. Thomas suggested doing a survey with community, foundation, and other groups to get their reaction. Meier invited Oftelie to the student roundtable to get their reaction. It will also be taken to the Faculty Association, CSO, and Exempt personnel.
