There are several assignments designated on the Schedule as Projects. Projects are assigned to provide practice using the skills introduced in the Sections. You will need to attach each of the Projects to an e-mail message and send it to me at rhcombs@lcmail.lcsc.edu. I will grade it and e-mail your score back to you. Please type CITPT 110 on the subject line of each of these e-mails so that I can identify them easily. You will be graded on your ability to complete the Projects using the skills introduced in each Section and on your accuracy. Projects are worth the following points: 10 points = A; 9 points = B; 8 points = C. At times I may ask you to redo a Project. You should make the corrections that I have indicated and resubmit the Project within three business days. The highest score you may receive on a redo is 9 points. These Projects will help you to prepare for the Exams.

You will need to copy folders and files from the CD-ROM in the back of your textbook. Here are instructions to copy those files and folders. You can choose to copy the files to your hard disk drive and/or a jump (flash) drive. You must copy the files from the CD-ROM to another location. Choose one of the following options depending upon where you wish to save the files. Do this before getting started on your work from the textbook then you won't have to carry the CD around with you.

Copy files to your hard drive:

1. Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start and click Computer. Double-click the CD-ROM drive that now appears (usually drive D).
3. Double-click the "files" folder and click the "Student Data Files" folder. Now click the Organize button and click Copy.
4. Go to the Documents folder on your hard drive (drive C:) to store these files. Click the New Folder button and type CITPT 110 for the name of the folder (or choose another name that identifies this course) and press Enter.
5. Double-click the folder you just created to open it and then click Organize and choose Paste. The "Student Data Files" folder is now pasted into the folder that you created. It contains all of the folders and files you'll need for the remainder of the semester. You will not need your CD-ROM again but keep it in a safe place.

You will not need your CD-ROM again but keep it in a safe place.

The Projects may ask you to print them. You are not required to print any of the Projects.

You will be graded heavily on "accuracy." It is extremely important that you proofread your Projects carefully before sending them to me to be graded. Keep in mind that spell check won't catch every typing or grammar error. You are the final judge. Be very careful to format (arrange) the document properly. It may help you to print the document and proofread it on paper before submitting it.
