SNAP is an online assessment tool used to evaluate student understanding and comprehension of skills introduced in each Section.  SNAP requires a high-speed Internet connection and one of these browsers: Internet Explorer 7 or higher (32-bit version only) , Firefox 3.6 or higher , Chrome 11 or higher; Adobe Flash Player 9 or higher; and a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Here is a link to the detailed system requirements for SNAP.

To get started with SNAP, go to this site:  SNAP (go ahead and bookmark the SNAP login page as you'll be visiting it often). Click the Getting Started button in the upper right corner of the SNAP login page for a tutorial on how to set up your account in SNAP. The registration process will also enable you to check the configuration of your computer which will instruct you to install SNAP software to allow SNAP to run on your own computer. Checking the configuration is an important step. If you are working from a classroom computer on the LCSC campus, this software has already been installed for you.

During the registration setup, you will be asked for an
Enrollment Key
 which is
rcombssp13
. You will also need the Activation Code that is printed on a card that came with your textbook. If you purchased a textbook from some place other than the LCSC Bookstore, you most likely will not have an Activation Code.

You may purchase an Activation Code online for approximately $70 by clicking this link, online Activation Code. Now type a 1 in the Quantity box for the SNAP Activation Code only via e-mail. Click Add to Cart. Proceed to Checkout and then click Create a Profile. Complete the form and click Continue. On the shipping screen, choose Free Shipping and Continue. Complete the Credit Card information and Continue. You will receive an e-mail confirming your purchase and a second e-mail listing the Activation Code. Complete the SNAP registration setup. This will allow you to log in to SNAP from any computer that has the SNAP software installed and the appropriate computer configuration.

You will use SNAP for the online exams only. You will use the Microsoft software (Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) to complete the work from the textbook and the Projects. Each SNAP exam is timed. You will be notified of the time limit for each exam when you select the exam. Exams are approximately 40 minutes each. You may take each exam one time (no retakes are allowed) and you will have three attempts for most questions.

Once you log into SNAP, click the "Always Available" link on the left. This is where you will find a list of all of the exams for the semester. To take an exam, you will need to click on the exam name. There is also a link on the left that says "All Tutorials." This has a list of videos covering the skills in your textbook. You are not required to go through these online Tutorials as the same information is contained in your textbook. If you want additional training and demonstration, however, you are welcome to go through these Tutorials.

The sequence you will go through during the semester is to work through the pages in the Section of the textbook, complete the Project(s) at the end of the Section (there are no Projects assigned for the first two Sections), and then take the exam for that Section. This sequence is also illustrated on the "Schedule" where everything you are responsible for completing is listed in order along with the due dates.
