No safety concerns reported on-line or directly to Administrative Services since the last meeting of  March 28, 2013.

Ongoing safety concerns discussed:

Safety concern:
Dark Stretch on 6th St. from 7th Ave. to 11th Ave:

Action taken by the Safety Committee:

Matt Graves, Director of the Physical Plant worked out a plan with Avista, and the college is paying for four lights to be constructed on 6th Street.  They should be complete by the end of the 2013 spring semester.

Safety concern:  New Crosswalk at 6th St. and 9th Ave:

Action taken by the Safety Committee:

Matt Graves said his plans for the cross walk are complete.  After the details are approved by the city, construction will begin to include a wheel chair ramp and then the city will paint a cross walk.  The college is aiming to have the curb and cross walk complete by the start of fall semester.

Safety concern:  Safety of Pedestrians on 6th St. and 11th Ave:

Discussion and or Action taken by the Safety Committee:

Matt Graves and Chris Dugger of the city walked around campus deciding where parallel parking would be removed and red paint would go to improve visibility of pedestrians around cross-walks and other heavily used areas.  The city will begin the project when their budget allows and when the “’painting season” arrives.  We expect the city will paint the cross-walk at 7th Ave. and 4th St. at the same time they paint red curb.
