LCSC Service-Learning
Faculty Fellowship Program
2009-2010
About the selection
process: The
Service-Learning Faculty Fellows program is open to LCSC
faculty members, program directors, and lecturers. We
seek colleagues from diverse disciplines and areas of
expertise and with varying degrees of familiarity with
service-learning. Colleagues with no service-learning
experience are encouraged to apply.
Successful
applicants will receive a $500 stipend for participation in
a training workshop and completion
of the “National Principles of Good Practice in Community
Service-Learning” form. (The form will be completed
after the workshops.)
Application:
Please submit a letter of application and
letter of support (see below). Because the seminar is
designed for participants to help share the common agenda,
we ask that you consider the following questions and briefly
respond to each in your letter of application.
- How will
the workshops help your professional development and your
students’ academic success?
- What will you bring to the
workshops? Consider past experiences in volunteering,
mentoring, service-learning, research or scholarly work
related to the community.
Letter of support:
One of the goals of the Faculty
Fellows Program is to build institutional support for
service-learning on campus. Please submit one letter from
an official within your department stating that he or she
supports your involvement in this program.
