BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY
Northern Idaho Advanced Standing Master of Social Work Program

No Additional Fees for Out-of-State Students

Boise State University now offers a one year Northern Idaho Advanced Standing Master of Social Work Program for students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The program is self-funded. Total costs for the 38-credit program are $10,260 in 2007 for both Idaho -students and students living out-of-state. Classes are offered evenings, weekends and on-line.

Boise State University was founded in 1932 and, with 18,600 students, is the largest university in Idaho. The BSU undergraduate social work program was established in 1966. The MSW Program was established in 1991 and was first accredited in 1992.

The Northern Idaho Advanced Standing MSW Program, with classes offered in both Lewiston and Coeur d’Alene, was initiated in June, 2006. The MSW is the first Boise State University Master’s Program offered in Northern Idaho in collaboration with Lewis-Clark State College. Courses are offered in LCSC facilities and are taught by Boise State and LCSC social work faculty members.

Boise State MSW Programs are intentionally small, providing an informal climate that fosters close relationships among students and faculty members. Students learn the knowledge and skills necessary for successful advanced professional practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. The School’s philosophy of social and economic justice, egalitarianism and respect for diversity reflects a strengths perspective that addresses populations at risk and prepares students for work
with diverse populations and issues.

Applications for the program’s second year—beginning in June 2007—will be reviewed beginning in January 2007. The program will be offered contingent on receiving sufficient appropriate applications.
