Program Policy for TRiO Academic Services (SSS) Participants
When you, the student, apply to TRiO Academic Services, one of your first meetings will be with the Program Director. At this time a program plan for service delivery will be established for the semester/year. When you have completed ten quality program service hours, you become an active TRiO participant and are eligible for program services until you graduate.
To remain an active TRiO participant in future years, you need to complete adequate contact hours each year. This contact should include a meeting with a TRiO advisor to discuss educational plans at least once a semester. Time spent in an TRiO course also counts towards this requirement. Check with the TRiO office for class availability and times. Time spent in the TRiO Learning Lab, located in RCH 218, count toward contact time so be sure to sign-in when you enter the lab. Participants also need to update records in the TRiO Office at the beginning of each fall semester.
When the time comes that participants no longer need program support and become inactive at TRiO it is the staff's hope that you will still drop in from time to time and let us know how you are doing in college. We appreciate knowing about any plans to transfer and, if you are attending another institution, when you graduate. Inactive participants are welcome to return at any time for additional services.
The TRiO staff will make every effort to meet your academic needs. In exchange, we ask participants to fill out a program evaluation form at the end of the academic year. Your input is important—we use the evaluation information to change and update program services.
We
trust that your time with TRiO will be valuable and help ensure your college
success. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to
stop by the TRiO Office at Reid Centennial Hall
205 or call (208) 792-2300.
