What is TRiO Academic Services?

 

The TRiO Academic Services (SSS) program is a federally-funded, student oriented program designed to provide free academic and developmental support to enrolled students who are eligible for the program

What are the Program's goals?

TRiO Academic Services helps students......

 

1.  Develop the writing, math, learning and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed at LCSC.

2.  Maintain a GPA necessary to achieve individual and academic goals.

3.  Make a commitment to college and integrate into the campus community.

4.  Become autonomous and develop a positive sense of self.  

      

Who is likely to Benefit from the TRiO Program?

 

Students who are concerned about entering college without being completely prepared for what is expected of them.  Typical concerns are:  returning to school after several years, poor preparation in writing and math, inadequate study skills, or apprehension and lack of confidence.  The TRiO staff members work individually with each student to address their concerns.

How do I sign up?

Call or drop into the TRiO Office, located in Reid Centennial Hall, room 203 on the LCSC campus.  You will be given an application for the program.  Or you can register through the On-line TRiO Application Form.  Just fill it out!  If you meet the eligibility guidelines, you will be signed up for an intake interview.  During this session, a staff member will help you develop a plan for success at LCSC.
