DRUG-FREE Schools & Community Act prevention

Lewis-Clark State College maintains an ongoing substance abuse prevention program that currently consists of educational, early intervention, enforcement, and environmental strategies in compliance with the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) Part 86 mandate to provide an "alcohol and other drug" (ADO) prevention program to the campus community.

Alcohol and Drug Use Education

LSCS takes seriously the mandate to provide AOD preventative educational programming to our students, staff and faculty.

Early Intervention Services

Students who come to the attention of faculty, Residence Life, Security or other staff or faculty for concerns related to AOD use and/or abuse are referred to the Student Counseling Center (SCC) for initial substance abuse screening, education and referral services. Faculty and staff are advised of available resources for drug and alcohol related problems on a systematic and ongoing basis.

Environmental Strategies

LCSC has a growing and very active community life. The campus recreation and Student Activity programs offer a large variety of safe, free or low cost and AOD free alternatives for all LCSC students, faculty and staff members.

Enforcement Efforts

Enforcement of the LCSC Alcohol-Drug Policy is provided by the Office of Security and through the Dean of Student Services/Judicial Affairs office for students and through the Human Resources Department for faculty and staff members. Adjudication of substance abuse violations is determined on a case by case basis and in compliance with all relevant city, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
