You've Decided on a Program! Now What?
Follow these steps in order and you will be on your way!
If the student has not done so already, s/he should discuss suitability of the desired program with his/her academic and financial advisors. The student should then complete any required applications, pay the applicable application fee(s) to the Study Away Office, and fill out Section I of the Study Away Form.
The Study Away Coordinator signs Section II of the Study Away Form to verify that the above step has been completed.
Students who have self-identified conditions to the Counseling and Disability Services office are recommended to continue working with this office. Students who desire ADA accommodation must notify Disability Services office a minimum of two months prior to the application deadline for the intended study away program. Prior notification is not required, but not doing so in a timely manner will prevent adequate accommodation.
The student consults with his/her academic advisor and relevant division chairs to complete Section III of the Study Away Form, course equivalency, for classes the student intends to take while studying away. Signatures from the academic advisor and when necessary the division chair should be secured for each class.
The student should meet with the Study Away Coordinator to obtain a signature for Section IV, confirming that enough courses have been approved, and verifying that the student has obtained and submitted acceptable proof of insurance.
The student should meet with Travis Osburn (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Financial Aid Office to discuss arrangements for financial aid and attendance verification requirements. The Financial Aid Office will check the box indicating whether the student plans to use financial aid, sign the form, and keep a photocopy.
The student should meet with Mary Browne (email@example.com) in the Student Accounts/Controller’s Office to discuss arrangements for payment of tuition and fees to LCSC or a third party program provider. Students must provide a printed document from the host institution’s calendar with start and end dates and cost of enrollment to receive a signature.
The student should meet with Nikol Roubidoux (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Registrar, who will sign and keep the original Study Away Form. A copy should be given to the Study Away Coordinator.
The student must complete the Conditions of Registration on his/her Warrior Web, and make sure s/he has been released for registration. S/he should then sign the Add/Drop form completed by the Study Away Coordinator for the appropriate SD course to act as a placeholder while the student earns credits studying away.
At the end of each semester studying away, the student is responsible for ordering an official transcript to be sent to LCSC. If an official transcript has not been received by the start of the next semester, there may be delays in financial aid and the ability to register and attend classes.
