Kamiah Wins Gold at SkillsUSA National Competition

This past June two Kamiah High School Instructors, Rob and Susan Salisbury, took a team of four students to the National SkillsUSA competition held in Kansas City where they took top "gold medal" honors for their presentation on Environmental Technology. The Kamiah team competed against teams from the other fifty states in the Technical Prep Showcase Environmental Resources competition. The Technical Prep Showcase Environmental Resources competition involves presenting a project as a team of three students. The groups focused on environmental monitoring and evaluation of both air and water quality in the Clearwater basin. Other awards received included a student earning an industry recognized certificate as a Customer Support Specialist. Students were afforded the opportunity to attend nationals by taking the top prize at the Idaho Northern Regional & State SkillsUSA Leadership Conferences.  Funding for travel to the national competition was provided through many student fundraisers and the Nez Perce and Kootenai Tribes.
