Junior Outing to Richland

September 9th Saturday
The Columbia Basin Racquet Club graciously hosted the Warrior Junior Tennis Team to a day of friendly matches in Richland. In the summer of 2004, the Junior Warriors made a similar trip to CBRC.
Fifteen players and two coaches (Kai & Courtney) made the trip in two vans. CBRC tennis pros, Patti Kirsch, Michael "T" and Jeffery immediately busted out some drills to start the festivities. After some mixers drills (CBRC had 22 participants), four of the six indoor courts were designated for doubles match play and the remaining two were drill/point playing courts
After each player had a turn in playing a match, the festivities turned towards a "Triples Move up Move Down". The intensity picked up as the game changed to "Triple Rollie Pollie"
During all the court action, Nick fired up the grill for some hamburgers and
franks to keep the players fed. This was in addition to all the other
dishes/desserts brought by the families of the CBRC participants.
Food was followed by a trivia session. Players exercised their cerebral
functions and walked away with prizes after easily handling what coaches thought
were challenging questions.
When most of the food was demolished, players took to the courts again for the final activity and this time, it was "Serving for Prizes". Cones were knocked faster than a three year old assembling lego blocks.
Players then assembled in their respective groups to listen to parting
remarks from the coaches, and the day ended with a line exchange of "high 5's"
between the two groups.
"What a nice day of tennis in a great atmosphere filled with nice people, good
food, and quality tennis!"
THANK YOU CBRC and LCSC participants for making this event very fun. You are
awesome!
