OUTLOOK FOR 2001
After losing four players from last year's successful campaign
(Marcus Kastel, Fabio Almeida, Joey Johnson & Ben Greenfield),
the Warriors have added 4 to its roster to fill the vacancies.
"We lost some very experienced players but we are fortunate to have picked up some
good ones"
The new players are Aaron Bren - a junior college transfer from Spokane; Guilherme Campos
(a freshman from Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Vanaka Gunawardhana ( a junior transfer from Sri
Lanka) and Jan Solcani ( a sophomore transfer from Slovakia). These players have all the
tools necessary to make an impact on the team. The Warriors look to be solid again with
the return of Vinicius Vieira, Dermot O'Grady, Daniel Bahia, Joao Oliveira, Sasa Bausovac
and Isaac Mendez.
Vinnie and Dermot gained some recognition in
Memphis during the ITA Rolex National Small College Championships. They are currently
ranked #3 in doubles. In singles, Vinnie occupies the 8th spot. Both of these are the
highest rankings ever recorded for any LC player.
The Warriors have a trip to Florida to battle the NAIA perennials like Flagler
College, Georgia Southwestern and Embry Riddle. They are also host to the regional
tournament again for the second year and the potential to earn its third consecutive
Regional title (and the opportunity to improve on its 8th place finishing in last year's
national tournament in Kentucky).
