The LC men brought back the Apple Cup to Lewiston after defeating Wenatchee All-Stars 10-2 and Pacific Lutheran University 8-4 in the fourth year of the event. This marks the second time the Warriors have won the three team event held in Wenatchee.
The Apple Cup match against PLU doubled as an official collegiate dual match, thus putting the Warriors 1-0 on the season after Saturday’s 6-3 victory.
“It is a good, fun way to start the season with a road trip for the entire squad. We got to play everyone to get rid of the first match jitters for the rookies”
The Apple Cup may be expanded to include the women next year as the Wenatchee Racquet and Athletic Club will begin construction of two additional indoor courts this summer.
Wenatchee is home of many PLU alumni, therefore it is sort of a mini homecoming for their players.
