The ParaPro Assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing and math on the part of prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction. It was designed to satisfy the requirements of the federally legislated No Child Left Behind Act.
The test is for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals.
Test takers have 2½ hours to complete the test. Plan for 3 hours total, which includes check-in time, registration and the tutorial.
Test subjects include reading, writing and math.
The test has 90 multiple-choice questions, approximately two-thirds of which focus on basic skills and knowledge. The remaining one-third focus on applying skills in the classroom. All test questions are in English.
The test is offered on computer in participating school districts.
The test is offered during normal business hours, see the Testing Center Hours on our homepage. Appointments are required.
The cost of the exam is $70. This fee is prepaid at the Cashier Window in the Administration Building. You must bring your receipt and government issued picture id to the Testing Center to check in for the exam.
