A Tight Knit Community
I was surprised at how the classroom does become a starting
point for a learning community and just not a place to be
because you have to be there. I was surprised that all my
professors know my name and am aware of when I show up and when
I don't. I have met many people who are in my classes that I
have later hung out with. The small size of the campus forces
you to meet people and hang out with people you would not
otherwise meet, which has taught me a lot about different
cultures and has opened my eyes (remember I come from a secluded
small town). The community is so close that most advisors know
where your interests lie and are more than
willing to help guide you in the right direction. This is like when I
needed help figuring out what I was going to do with the rest of my life
in choosing a major and joining clubs. |
