When: 8 am – 9 am Thursdays June through October 2017
Where: The LC Garden (located to the southeast of the President’s house, on 7th Street)
What: Come join us throughout the summer and fall to harvest vegetables for LCSC students and local food banks. We work with Backyard Harvest and AmeriCorps VISTA so that our healthy harvest directly contributes to improving community access to nutritious foods. No experience or gardening supplies are necessary, just show up and we will work together in a fun and supportive environment.
There are three goals of Gardening for Wellness:
(1) To provide an outdoor wellness and learning activity for attendees.
(2) To harvest and deliver healthy vegetables to our students, and the community through the food bank.
(3) To make connections across campus and with our community.
Each Thursday morning meeting, we will harvest and weed our garden. We will weigh the harvested food and deliver it to the Food Bank or Pantry. A short lesson on gardening, meditation and/or stretching will also be provided.
