On-Campus Class
Information:
-
This course does not have
an on-line component.
-
All of the class work and
skill training are done in the classroom with an
instructor.
There may be some out of class
study/homework required.

You will meet for a total
of 80 hours of instruction, an 8 hour CPR class
(if needed) and 40 hours of skill training at
an approved facility (which the instructor and
student will arrange).

Online/On-Campus Class
Information:
-
Class work will be
completed on-line through LCSCs blackboard
system.
You
MUST
have access to an internet connection to take
this class.
-
You will meet with the
instructor for 9 to 10 classroom sessions to learn and
practice your skills. Attendance is mandatory.
-
You will meet for a total
of 36 hours for skill training, an 8 hour CPR
class (if needed), and 40 hours of skill
training at an approved facility.
General Information:
-
Background checks
are required and must be done through our contracted company.
Students must submit their background check
by the FIRST day fo class. Background
checks will not be accepted is submitted
sooner that 1 month before the start of
class. Contact the Workforce Training office for
instructions.

A textbook if required for all CNA classes.
The On Campus class requires a workbook
also.

You will need to
have solid colored scrubs, white shoes and a
gait belt for clinical times.
-
Proof of immunizations will be required.
-
To be placed on the Idaho State Nurse Aide
Registry students must pass the CNA course,
a skills test and a written test. The
tests and their fees are not part of the
course and require seperate registration and
payment.

Healthcare Provier CPR is a requirement to
pass this course. If you do not
have a current Healthcare Provider CPR card
you will be required to attend a
specifically scheduled CPR class. If
you do not attend this class you will be
responsible for finding and paying for a
class on your own. (There is no charge for
this class if you attend your assigned class).

The registration fee is due at the time of
registration either with debit/credit card,
cash, check, money order or voucher. You
can register over the phone or in person in
our office.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I am an EMT, paramedic, or military
medic. Is that the
same as a nursing assistant?
No.
However, if you are a current EMT, paramedic,
military medic, medical assitant, physical
therapist, respitory therapist or radiography
technician and and are entering LCSC's Nursing
program (without the intention of working as a
CNA) contact us at (208) 792-2059 for challenge
options.
What does the CNA
class teach me?
CNAs work under the supervision of a nurse and
provide assistance to patients with daily living
tasks.
As a CNA, you are responsible for basic
care services such as bathing, transferring,
grooming and feeding patients, assisting nurses
with medical equipment, and checking patient
vital signs.
You will give patients important social
and emotional support and also provide vital
information on patient conditions to nurses.
What does the
online/on-campus
CNA class require in terms of time and on-campus
time?
You will complete all of your
didactic training on-line through LCSCs
Blackboard system, thus you must have access to
the internet to take this course.
Your
instructor will set deadlines for work to be
completed via the course calendar.
You will meet with your instructor for 9
to 10
sessions, each 3 1/2 to 4 hours long to learn and
practice your skills.
How long will it take me to complete my
CNA class?
The class is apx 12 weeks long.
This does not include your state skill
and written exams.
How long do I need to
wait after the class to begin state testing?
At the end of the class, the
instructor will turn in a final roster
indicating who has passed the course.
Once this information is received by LCSC
Workforce Training, the student may register to
take the skill exam.
You
register for the skill exam at Workforce
Training (208-792-2059). The skill exam must be
passed prior to taking the written exam.
You have six months after course
completion to pass your skill exam.
You will be allowed three attempts to
pass your skill exam.
After you have passed the skill exam, you
then qualify to take the written exam at the
Professional Technical Education Center (208-792-2331).
You have three attempts to pass the
written exam also. You must pass the
written exam within 12 months of course
completion.
I have let my CNA
certificate expire. What do I need
to do to have my certificate reinstated?
You will need to contact the
Idaho State Nurse Aide Registry at
1-800-748-2480.
They will advise you on your next step.
I have taken the CNA
test in another state but didn’t pass; can I
test at Workforce Training?
No.

How much does the
class cost? Is testing a
separate cost?

the cost?
As of January 2012 the
on-campus registration fee is $650 plus you will
need 2 books, a background check, immunizations
and clincial attire/equipment.
The online/on-campus registration fee is $650 plus
you will need 1
book, a background check, immunizations and
clinical attire/equipment.
The skill exam is $50 per exam.
The written exam is also $50 per exam. If you
fail either of your exams, you will have to
register for another test and pay
the fee again in order to test again.
I am in high school;
can I take the CNA training?
Yes.
You may want to check with your local
high school.
Many of the high schools already have the
program in place.
