Excel – The Basics (Microsoft 2010)

Do you want to build your job skills; compile data for quick results; build graphs, calendars, and charts; or track statistics for work, school, or church? This introduction to the Excel program will help you in these areas and more. During this course you will learn to create worksheets that perform simple calculations, and learn techniques to manipulate your data into a presentable format.

 

Excel – Beyond The Basics

(Microsoft 2010)

Do you need to track sales? Does your company use spreadsheets for tracking inventory, personnel, and other important data? This course will help you build on your basic Excel skills. Learn to use formulas, multiple worksheets, and insert charts and graphs. In this course you will learn to create multiple pages of interlink­ing data, and how to use formulas for increased proficiency. You will also learn how to integrate Excel with Word, Access, and PowerPoint, and much more.

 

Excel – Formats & Formulas (Microsoft 2010)

In this course you will focus on writing formulas and using absolute numbers. You'll learn how to link sheets and books and how to format your work. Learn about pivot tables and how to import pictures and graphics into your Excel file.

 

InDesign Part 1

Adobe InDesign is now the industry standard for design and layout of adver­tising and multi-page documents. Seeing the big picture. An introduction to the pasteboard, workspace, tool palettes, layers, pages, master pages, styles, and an orientation on color gamuts, basic typography, form and the grid layout.

 

InDesign Part 2

Getting on the grid. You'll build a complete document from start to finish. We'll focus on grid page layout, typographic setting, illustration, working iwht images, strokes, links and glyphs.

 

InDesign Part 3

We got style! Utilize the full power of typographic, paragraph and image styles in multi-page document creation. We'll cover master pages, text automation, and other time saving techniques.

 

InDesign Part 4

Taking it to the streets. Introduction to pre-press, pre-flighting, separation, packaging and output issues. We'll review the most important principles and the number one secret to great layouts.

 

Web Design/Expression Part 1

Do you want to learn the essentials of Microsoft Expression? In this class you will be instructed in the basics of setting up a website. During the class you will develop a basic website using Expression Web.

 

Web Design/Expression Part 2

In this class you will research and acquire a domain name and find a hosting company. The website that you create will be hosted locally. You will need to bring a jump drive to save your website to if you want to be able to take it home with you. You may also want to bring pictures and/or graphics saved on your jump drive to use on your website as well.

 

Adobe Illustrator Series Overview

Vectorization techniques greatly benefit designers who need to rebuild a logo or create one from scratch with the highest quality possible. Vector painting is an illustrative technique where you take a source image and create a "painting" in illustrator. It looks very impressive but is really very easy, and you can get as detailed or stay as loose as you want. This series will benefit both designers and artists.

 

Adobe Illustrator Part 1

Part one deals with seeing the big picture. Learn the intro to the pasteboard, workspace and tool palettes. You'll learn the layers and an orientation on color gamuts, basic typography (including the one rule), form, contrast and balance.

 

Adobe Illustrator Part 2

Part 2 deals with getting on the right vector. The pen tool is not only mightier than the sword, it is mightier that the pen. You'll be off and running right away with basic vectorization, shapes and pathfinding.

 

Adobe Illustrator 3

Learn about Happy Little Trees and paint by numbers! Take your art and illustrations to the next level with vector painting. Learn how to  vectorize logos, illustrations and more - from any source or none!

 

Adobe Illustrator Part 4

Part four is all about taking it to the streets. Learn advanced vectorization, maniputlation, and getting the best print possible. We'll focus on output issues that affect artists. PLUS: the number one secret to great art.

 

Photoshop 1

Seeing the big picture. An introduction to the workspace, tool palettes, selection, layers, channels, pathe, styles, and an orientation on color gamuts, basic typography, balance and form.

 

Photoshop  2

Basic image manipulation. Learn how to open and work with a number of common image types and perfrom the most common kinds of image selction and manipultaion.

 

Photoshop 3

Layers, channels, & path. Understand how layers channels and paths work with each other. You'll apply basic layer effects and styles, see how channels work, and learn the power of the pen tool.

 

Photoshop 4

Taking it to the streets. Basic photo restoration and correction, including red eye removal, cleanup and more. We'll review the most important principles and the number one secret to great design.

 

Photoshop Elements 1

Seeing the big picture. An introduction to the organizer, working with image collections, creating catalogs, using Quick Fix and Full Edit modes. Intro to color, typography and form.


 
Photoshop Elements 2

Basic image manipulation. Learn how to open and work with a number of common image types and perform the most common kinds of image selection and manipulation.

 

Photoshop Elements 3

We will work within photo corrections and use the clone tool, type and many artist effects. You will learn how to work with text and an understanding of layers. Combining photos and many special effects will be explored.

 

Photoshop Elements 4

Let's start creating! Create text, work with shapes, and understand fills and strokes. Introduction to the paint and basic image editing and selection tools, Create and use layers to organize your work.

 

PowerPoint - Basics 1 (Microsoft 2010)

This class will give you an introduction to the creative power of PowerPoint. Learn to create a blank presentation, an outline and add graphics and develop placement. Learn to change slide views and add formatted text. Add sounds and animation. Create attractive slide transitions, and learn to save your presentation as a slide show. PowerPoint is probably already yoiu your comuter. Why not learn to take advantage of its powerful capabilities?

 

PowerPoint - Basics 2 (Microsoft 2010)

Part two will give a brief review of part one and then take you to the next level. Learn to add more graphics like lines, arrows, AutoShaper and more. Learn great looking effects like shadows and 3-D shapes. Learn about picture sources and how to save them to your computer. Learn how to edit sounds using free programs. You will then create a complete slide show of your own from scratch. Once you've complete both classes, you will be able to create professional presentations for any purpose.

 

QuickBooks - Part 1

QuickBooks ~ Getting Started: In this class you will learn the basics of getting started with QuickBooks. You will learn how to set up a company, navi­gate menu bars, work with lists, chart of accounts, and set up bank accounts. 

 

QuickBooks - Part 2

QuickBooks ~ Accounts payable, receivable, and other essential business elements: This is an intermediate workshop for learning the basic setup of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries along with other essential bookkeeping elements for small business.

 

QuickBooks - Part 3

QuickBooks ~ Reports, budgeting, payroll, and analization: This class is not for the beginner. You will learn how the information you enter flows into other parts of QuickBooks. You will learn what reports are available, how to read and interpret data, budgeting, basic payroll, and analyzing your financials.

 

Word 2010 Part 1

Having a challenge with the format in Microsoft Word 2010? We can help! This clas will sharpen your skills and build your resume while teaching you Word 2010. This class teaches the basics of MS Word 2010. We will cover headers and footers, word art, text boxes, signature lines, spacing, page styles and layouts and much more. Some keyboard experience is preferred.

 

Word 2010 Part 2

Word 2010 is loaded with bells and whistles to make your job easier and your time more efficient. This class is not for the beginner. You will cover importing and exporting documents, shapes, and pictures. We will learn how to use tables, hyperlinks, watermarks, endnotes, mail merge and much more while expanding your knowledge of the 2010 format.

 

Word 2010 Part 3

This extended Word class will cover the use of rulers and style sheets. Learn to use the power of mail merge and how to use fill in boxes. Word is a very powerful program and this session will help you tap into that power.

 

Intro to iPods & iPads

Apple's ingenuity has truly transformed the way we work, learn, play, and communicate. With the iPad we can do all of this with one device. In this course you will learn how to manage your iPad, iPhone, and/or iPod touch with confidence as you learn how to move fluently around the User Interface, manage "Apps", and make the iDevice, your iDevice, through creatively customizing it to suit your needs.

Computer Essentials: Things To Know

Before You Get Started

Inexperience with a computer is not an indication of your intelligence. Take the fear and intimidatin out of using your computer. This class is designed for those who own a computer, but feel fearful and intimidated when they turn it on. You will learn the basics in computer terminology, methods, and tools. Learn the basic components of your system and their functions. Learn how to use you CD drive and how to open programs and attachments. You will explore this amazing device with the guidance of an experienced user. This course is rewarding, useful, and fun!

 

My Computer: Finding My Way Around 

Build on your knowledge from Computer Essentials.  Computers are large digital information storage systems.  This class will teach you how to file documents, how to put a shortcut on your desktop, and how to clean and maintain your desktop.  Learn how to search your computer for files you have lost.  Learn how to use search engines like your Microsoft search function and Google.  This course will teach you how to store information by creating and managing folders and how to manage messages in your email in-box.  If you can do these function, you will have more fun and save time using your computer!
