Access Essentials – Level 1 (Microsoft 2007)

Microsoft Access is a powerful pro­gram that can assist you and your busi­ness in many ways. This 8-hour class will get you started in tapping into the power of Access. Learn to create tables, columns, data types, field names, indexes and keys. By the end of this first session, you will feel comfortable navigating around in Access…but you’re just getting started.

 

Access Essential – Level 2 (Microsoft 2007)

The power of Microsoft Access is vast and this second session will pick up where Level One left off. Learn how to create relationships, forms, reports and more. You will be able to see how this software that is in most computers when you purchase them, can really give your business an advantage in tracking customers and more.

 

Access Intermediate (Microsoft 2007)

Are you comfortable with the basics of Access and want to develop your skills further? Then this 8-hour class is for you. Take Access to the next level and discover how this powerful database software can work for your business without driving you crazy. Move beyond macros and create more complex queries and master sub-forms and sub-reports.

 

Excel – The Basics (Microsoft 2003 or 2007)

Do you want to build your job skills; compile data for quick results; build graphs, calendars, and charts; or track statistics for work, school, or church? This introduction to the Excel program will help you in these areas and more. During this course you will learn to create worksheets that perform simple calculations, and learn techniques to manipulate your data into a presentable format.

 

Excel – Beyond The Basics

(Microsoft 2003 or 2007)

Do you need to track sales? Does your company use spreadsheets for tracking inventory, personnel, and other important data? This course will help you build on your basic Excel skills. Learn to use formulas, multiple worksheets, and insert charts and graphs. In this course you will learn to create multiple pages of interlink­ing data, and how to use formulas for increased proficiency. You will also learn how to integrate Excel with Word, Access, and PowerPoint, and much more. This course material will be covered in two 4-hour sessions while using an assigned computer.

 

InDesign Part I

Adobe InDesign is now the industry standard for design and layout of adver­tising and multi-page documents. The program is fully integrated with Adobe Photoshop and all other aspects of the Adobe Creative Suite. In InDesign Part I we will introduce you to the advanced typographic and illustration tools to build logos, business cards, and flyers.

 

InDesign Part II

InDesign Part II builds on the skills learned in InDesign Part I. In this class you will learn how to design professional 3-panel brochures and multiple-page layouts. If graphic design is part of your job, or you want it to be, this course will keep you ahead of the software curve.

 

Microsoft Expression Part I (FrontPage)

Do you want to learn the essentials of Microsoft Expressions? In this class you will learn the basics of setting up a website. During the class you will develop a basic website using Expression Web. 

 

Microsoft Expression Part II (FrontPage)

In this class you will research and acquire a domain name and find a hosting company. The website that you create will be hosted locally. You will need to bring a jump drive to save your website to if you want to be able to take it home with you. You may also want to bring pictures and/or graphics saved on your jump drive to use on your website as well.

 

Photoshop 1

This class introduces students to the power of Photoshop. Students will learn to adjust and correct the color, contrast, and composition of images, as well as, how to use layers, clipping, clone stamp, type, and various other tools. Students will also prepare images for printing and for web output.

 

Photoshop 2

This class takes students to the next level of Photoshop. Students will learn how to use Photoshop filters and perspective tools. You will also learn how to use the many tools covered in concert to create custom digital images.

 

PowerPoint - Basics (Microsoft 2007)

Do you want to learn how to create dynamic professional presentations for your business, classroom, or personal use? In this course you will learn to create and format presentations that can be used for sales, financial updates, year end demonstrations, and personal slideshows. You will also learn to work with pictures, tables, and diagrams. You will find out how you can add style, colors, fonts, backgrounds, and other effects to our slide presentations in PowerPoint. Each student will receive hands-on training while using an as­signed computer.

 

QuickBooks 2007 - Part I

QuickBooks ~ Getting Started: In this workshop you will learn the basics of getting started with QuickBooks. You will Learn how to set up a company, navi­gate menu bars, work with lists, chart of accounts, and set up bank accounts. 

 

QuickBooks 2007 - Part II

QuickBooks ~ Accounts payable, receivable, and other essential business elements: This is an intermediate workshop for learning the basic setup of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries along with other essential bookkeeping elements for small business.

 

QuickBooks 2007 - Part III

QuickBooks ~ Reports, budgeting, payroll, and analization: This work­shop is not for the beginner. You will learn how the information you enter flows into other parts of QuickBooks. You will learn what reports are available, how to read and interpret data, budgeting, basic payroll, and analyzing your financials.

 

Web Design

In this workshop you will learn the basics of setting up a website. You will learn how to research and acquire a domain name and find a hosting company. You will develop a basic web­site using Microsoft Expression Web. Your website will be hosted locally, so you should bring a jump drive to save it to - if you want to take it home with you. Feel free to bring pictures/graphics on your jump drive as well. We’ll be developing an online photo album.

 

Word – Basics 1 (Microsoft 2003 or 2007)

Do you want to learn how to use Microsoft Word? If so, this course is for you. In this course you will learn about creating and saving new documents, basic page setup, and using templates to simplify your work. You will also learn how to format fonts and paragraphs, and how to use toolbars, spell check, and task panes, as well as how to copy, cut, and past.

 

Word – Basics 2 (Microsoft 2003 or 2007)

Do you want to expand your Microsoft Word skills? In this course our skilled instructor will teach you methods for modifying an existing document and how to insert objects into a document. You will also learn bullets and numbering, using the find function, replace function, drawing tools, printing options, and much more.

Computer Essentials: Things To Know

Before You Get Started

Inexperience with a computer is not an indication of your intelligence. You don’t have to know a lot about a computer to use one. In this course, you will be given step-by-step instruction on how to approach the intimidating world of computers. You will learn how to turn-on, login, set a password, and utilize the many features of the keyboard and mouse. Just remember that everyone who uses computers was a beginner once too.  

 

Desktop Exploration

Exploration is the act of traveling a terrain for the purpose of discovery. In this course, you will become the explorer. You will explore the computer desktop which includes the icons, accounts, shortcuts, documents and the process behind personalizing that terrain to fit your own needs and desires. Are you up to charting a new territory?

 

Maintaining Your Computer 

Is your computer system not running as quickly as it used to? It might be time for some performance-boosting maintenance. Computers, like cars, homes, and appliances, need regular maintenance to keep functioning well. If you own a computer or utilize one at work, then it is vital you learn how to maintain the health of your com­puter to optimize its performance. You will receive instruction on defragging, running scan disk, disk clean up software, updating software, maintain­ing virus protection and firewalls.  

 

Windows and window….. 

This class covers the basics of the Windows Operating System. You will learn how the hub of the computer sys­tem relates to all the spokes. You will also dive into the basic programs of windows and learn how to maneuver among the different application screens utilizing the tool bars, menus and icons. All of this will be taught with hands-on exploration.
