Identify the target cell you want to use with Solver. Note that this
cell must contain a formula. Example: C13 (Total Annual Profit) |

Determine the result you’d like Solver to achieve. Example: Maximize the profit |

Locate the cells Solver can change to achieve your result. Example: C5:C12 (contributors to profit) |

Identify any constraints that Solver must respect. Example: C11 must remain greater than 0 |
| Display the Tools menu and then click the word Solver. The Solver Parameters dialog box will display. | |
| Enter your target cell in the first field. | |
| Select the option that matches the result you’d like to achieve. | |
| Select the range Solver can change. | |
| If you want, add any constraints. | |
| Click the Solve button. The Solver Results dialog box will appear to allow you to keep the solution or restore the original values. |
