Get Ready
Determine the name and the type of the database from which you want to retrieve data.
Example: Excel files

Begin
Click the cell where you want to start the insert.
Display the Data menu and point to the Get External Data… command.
Click the New Database Query command. In a few moments, the Choose Data Source dialog box will display.
Click the Use the Query Wizard to create/edit queries check box.
If necessary, click the Databases tab.
Double-click the option matching the type of data and then select the file you want to query.
Follow the instructions on each page of the Query Wizard to complete your query.
