The Idaho Food Code will require all licensed food establishments to have at least one Certified Food Manager on staff by July 1, 2018. It will be mandatory for these establishments to be in compliance by that date. To comply with Idaho Law, at least one manager must attend a six hour food manager training class followed by a nationally approved certification exam. This review session and exam will be administered by a certified food safety instructor. The Food Safety Manager Certification is to assess the knowledge and skills of food managers to prevent foodborne illness. This certification is accepted by local health departments and is valid for a five years.There will be adequate breaks throughout the day and a 30-40 minute lunch. Students will need to bring some form of identification to take the secured exam.
LCSC Workforce Training will be offering this mandatory training one Saturday per month beginning in January of 2018. The Food Safety Manager Certification is to assess the knowledge and skills of food managers to prevent foodborne illness. This national certification is accepted by local health departments and is valid for five years. Each course is limited to 35 seats so register early.
This course is taught using curriculum provided through the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals which adheres to requirements to the Idaho Food Code which take effect July 1, 2018.
