Expanded Functions of Dental Assisting

In many dental practices dentists are looking for their dental assistants to perform expanded functions.

Take any or all of the following Expanded Functions courses and further  your career:

    1. Nitrous Oxide
    2. Coronal Polishing
    3. Pit & Fissure Sealants
    4. Temporary Crown
    5. Polishing Amalgam
    6. High-Speed Hand Piece *

 Requirements to take Expanded Functions:

    1. Miminum of 6 months full time experience as a dental assistant
    2. Currently employed by a dentist who will sign an agreement allowing you to perform clinical functions in the office
    3. Have a second dentist willing to oversee your final skills evaluation

In addition to the above requirements you must meet one of the following criteria:

    • Be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board
    • Be a graduate of an accredited dental assisting program
    • Have successfully completed or challenged the Dental Assisting Fundamentals course.

*High-speed hand piece can only be performed under the employment of an orthodontist
