The Pharmacy Technology program prepares graduates for positions working under the supervision of a licensed and registered pharmacist in retail and institutional pharmacy settings. Students completing the program will have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pharmacy law, and the therapeutic classification and use of the top-200 prescription drugs. Students will develop skills in pharmaceutical preparation, maintaining patient profiles or records, sterile products preparation, performing stock procedures, communication and presentation, and computer use to enter, store, and recall patient information.

This 11-month fast paced and intensive program is taught through a combination of convenient online classes, hands-on training and clinical hours in a local pharmacy. In addition to basic training as a pharmacy technician, this program includes national certifications in IV/Sterile Products, Extemporaneous Compounding and the PTCB examination.


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Schedule to take Basic Computer Skills and typing test at WFT. Score of 75% required on the Computer Skills test and 35 WPM or more on the typing test.
  • Math Requirement Options
    • ALEKS Math Placement Test score of 30. Call LCSC Testing Center at 208-792-2100 to schedule. If score received is below 30, contact Workforce Training for options; or
    • College “Basic Algebra”  with minimum grade of ‘C’ (proof provided) or
    • High school algebra (within last 4 years) with minimum grade of ‘C’ (proof provided)
  • A criminal background check and drug test upon admission. Violations may result in denied access to clinical sites and therefore inability to complete the program. For questions regarding specific violations, please contact Workforce Training.
