Peer Consultants

The LCSC Owl is staffed by LCSC students who have been recommended by faculty for their writing and interpersonal communication skills and who have completed ENGL 384, Peer Tutor Theory and Practice. In this course peer consultants study composition theories related to the writing process, the development of writing abilities, and collaborative learning. As part of the course, all students complete a 15 hour practicum in the Writing Center, where they learn to apply the course theories and strategies. Several peer consultants have completed more than 400 hours of peer conferencing and they mentor, informally, new peer consultants.
