The first year of college can be exciting and kind of overwhelming. You are learning about the campus, the instructors, your roommate(s) and how the process of college works, not to mention learning a great deal of new material.
The Advising Center has put together a resource guide for you. "Navigating Your First Year" offers you color-coded steps that begin with "Before Orientation" and ends with "Before the End of The First Year". In between, you will find helpful "Terms to Know" that cuts through the jargon a student hears and translates it into understandable words.
You will find the "LCSC Mathematics and Writing Flow Charts" that determine your placement into math and English courses. The "General Education Core Requirements" list what is currently required for all students in a baccalaureate program.
There are helpful sections on the use of WarriorWeb and LCMail, both vital to a students success at LCSC along with a "Fall and Spring Semester Important Dates" page.
"The Resources for Success" provides you with where to go for help with things like math and English, when you're sick or are in the need of Information Technology (IT) help. The "Tips for Success" page outlines some strategies to help you successfully get through your first year at LCSC and beyond.
The 2019-2020 Navigating Your First Year at Lewis-Clark State College guide is hot off the presses. All students receive a printed copy of this book at their STAR session, but you are welcome to look through this electronic version prior to STAR and refer to it often in that first year. It helps to explain how processes and procedures work at LCSC, and it explains some of the most commonly used terms we use at LCSC; words like "advisor", "FAFSA", and "SAP" just to name a few.
