Lewis -Clark State College offers:

Lewis-Clark State College offers two American Sign Language courses, American Sign Language I (ED222) and American Sign Language II (ED422).  ED222 introduces students to beginning American Sign Language including Deaf Culture, Deaf History and Deaf Studies during Fall Semester.  ED422 is a continual introductory course during Spring Semester.  Using American Sign Language is popular and more colleges and universities are offering American Sign Language courses than approximate  20 years ago when a movement, Deaf President Now was occurred at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in March 1988.  

Skills and Qualifications

  • Design and implement lesson plans

  • Assess college students’ progress in ASL classroom

  • Observe college students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress

  • Provide private instruction to individual or group to improve their ASL skills

  • Review class material with individual by reviewing worksheets or other assignments

  • Use computers, audio-visual aids or other equipment and materials to presentations

  • Use Learning Management Systems (LMS): Canvas and Blackboard

  • Participate American Sign Language Teacher Association and True + Way ASL meetings
