38th annual Art Under the Elms is April 19-21

LEWISTON, Idaho – A record 73 artisan vendors are scheduled to participate in the 38th annual Art Under the Elms on April 19-21 at Lewis-Clark State College.

The event, organized by the LC State Center for Arts & History, has something for the entire family and is free and open to the public as part of the Center’s commitment to making the arts more accessible.

This year features the artisan marketplace, food trucks, musical performances, cultural dance presentations, readings, and theatre performances, along with Mountainfilm on Tour and art activities. A list of the artisan vendors registered for the event can be found at the Art Under the Elms website.

Registered food vendors this year include Azar's, The Battleground, Billy's Shaved Ice, Crazy Good, Deeney's Ice Cream, Genie's Catering, Goody's Snack Shack, Happy Day, Huckleberry Scoops, Sno-Zone, and Trail Blazing Nut Roasters.

Hours for the artisan marketplace, food trucks and SUB Amphitheater entertainment are noon-7 p.m. on April 19, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on April 20, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on April 21.

The event will also coincide with LC State’s Family Weekend, which brings families and friends of current students as well as alumni to campus.

Art Under the Elms is sponsored by ICCU, the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge, and the Innovia Foundation which serves as the Center’s culture, arts and entertainment sponsor as part of its “Celebrating Community” 50th anniversary regionwide celebration.

Art Under the Elms Schedule of events:

Friday, April 19

  • 2:30 p.m. – Reading by Regional Writers featuring Stuart Scott on the gazebo lawn.
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m. – Opening reception for “Future Warrior Art Exhibition: Regional 6-12th Grade Student Showcase” in the foyer gallery of the LC State Library.
  • 7-9:30 p.m. – Mountainfilm on Tour at the Silverthorne Theatre. Doors will open at 6:30 and will feature a collection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and engaging documentary short films that align with Mountainfilm’s mission to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
  • SUB Amphitheater music and performance lineup for Friday: LC State Dance Team, easyday, Sarah Margaret, General Mojo's.

Saturday, April 20

  • 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. – Cultural Showcase at the SUB Amphitheater featuring cultural dance presentations by Oinkari Basque Dancers of Boise, LC State Folkorico Dancers, and Nez Perce Tourism.
  • 1 p.m. – Reading by Regional Writers featuring Neil Cox on the gazebo lawn.
  • 7 p.m. – Bill Bower's production of “Between Us” at the Silverthorne Theatre. “Between Us” is a story without words by world renowned mime and Broadway actor Bill Bowers. It is presented by the LC State Humanities Division and the Lewiston Civic Theater, and is sponsored by the Rosehill Fund.
  • SUB Amphitheater music lineup for Saturday: Calico Bones and The Michael Kelly Band.

Sunday April 21

  • 10 a.m.-noon – A Morning of Reading by Regional Writers at the SUB Amphitheater. Readers include Diane Worthey, Patti Rae and LC State students.
  • 2 p.m. – Matinee production of Bill Bower's “Between Us” at the Silverthorne Theatre.
  • SUB Amphitheater music lineup for Sunday: Half Step Ahead and Solid Ghost.
