LCSC Research Symposium is Wednesday through Friday

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College students and faculty will present their research during the 12th annual LCSC Research Symposium, which will be held Wednesday through Friday, May 2-4, at 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the LCSC Williams Conference Center on campus and at the LCSC Center for Arts & History, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston.

The event is free and open to the public.

Students who are seniors from six of LCSC’s academic divisions participated in research projects associated with their college major. They will present their findings through either discussions and/or posters.

Also, there will be a faculty showcase panel and a keynote speech during the event.

The faculty showcase panel features presentations by LCSC faculty members, including Colin Fehr (“What’s the Big Dill? Pickleball: America’s Fastest Growing Sport”), Tracy Flynn (“Teaching Servant Leadership in a Country Founded by Repatriated Slaves”), Nancy Johnston (“Air and Water Monitoring of the LC Valley-Undergraduate Research in Our Own Backyard”), Brett Morris (“Asteroid Mining: New Gold Rush or New Battleground?”), Sydney Parker (“What’s Your Score? Evidence Based Practice for Scoring Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome”), and Susan Steele (“Community Engaged Service-Learning: The Effect on University Students and Community Partners”). This panel discussion will be held at noon-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williams Conference Center.

On Thursday, Matthew Silvers, a Whitworth University associate professor in the Health Sciences department, will give the keynote speech on “Research is Just Research: Be Like Water My Friends.” The keynote will take place at noon-1:15 p.m. on Thursday, also at the Williams Conference Center.

Friday’s poster session at 1-3 p.m. will include posters from the Hells Canyon Institute, the LCSC Teaching & Learning Center, and the psychology, biology, and chemistry programs at LCSC.
