Provost
Dr. Carmen M. Simone has been
named Provost and
Vice President for Academic Affairs at the
college effective August 15, 2011.
Simone grew up in a small town
in western North Dakota. She earned a Bachelor
of Science degree in Chemistry from the
University of North Dakota in 1987 and a Ph.D.
in Chemistry from Colorado State University in
1992.
In 1993, Simone joined the
faculty at Casper College (in Wyoming) as a
chemistry instructor while maintaining a special
summer appointment as an Assistant Professor in
the chemistry department at Colorado State
University. She served as chair of the Faculty
Senate at Casper College for three years and was
appointed Division Chair for Physical Science in
2000. Simone became the Vice President for
Academic Affairs at Casper College in 2004.
Simone is the past chair of
the National Council of Instructional
Administrators, an affiliate council of the
American Association of Community Colleges.
While in Casper, she also served as a member of
the Science Zone Board, the United Way Board,
co-facilitated the Board of Cooperative
Educational Services, and was a member of the
Five-Trails Rotary club.
Simone and her husband Alan
have two children.
