Adopt a Mascot?
LC State will always be the Warriors. This will not change. The question is, should LC State adopt a physical mascot? If so, what should it be? A task force has been created to review this question, and it wants your continued feedback.
About the Initiative
In 2024-25, LC State's student government (ASLSC) expressed interest in adopting a physical mascot. In fall of 2025, a 19-member task force; composed of students, faculty, staff, and alumni; was created to review and research this topic. Research included, but was not limited to, school history, conference mascots, area mascots, brand identity and marketing, and wildlife native to Idaho. Hundreds of ideas have been considered.
Jan. 15 Feedback Form
On Jan. 15, 2026, a feedback form was launched to gather campus input regarding the mascot initiative. A total of 288 individuals responded, including 140 students. Among the respondents, 85% indicated approval of, at least, one of the options being researched by the 19-member Mascot Task Force. Overall, two options stood out above the rest – wolverine was preferred by 37% of respondents, and bighorn sheep was the preference of 26% (“other” had 15%, kestrel 13%, and mammoth 10%).
A New Poll
To continue to provide helpful feedback, a new poll has been launched that will remain active until Feb. 25. Based on results from the Jan. 15 feedback form, the poll includes the following four options:
- Wolverine
- Bighorn Sheep
- Other
- No Mascot
