Bio

Dr. Van Mullem has over 14 years of professional experience in coaching and athletic administrative positions at the junior high, high school, small college, NCAA Division II and Division I level. He currently serves on the Editorial Board for the International Sport Coaching Journal (ISCJ), is the Director of Sport Coach America, and Editor-in-Chief of PHE America. Dr. Van Mullem recently served as a member of the National Standards for Sport Coaches Revision Task Force (2017-2019). A published author, Dr. Van Mullem recently co-authored two books: To Be a Better Coach: A Guide for the Youth Sport Coach and Coach Developer and the National Standards for Sport Coaches. In addition, he has published over 40 articles related to coach development.

At LCSC, Dr. Van Mullem is the creator and director of the Annual Dr. Bob Frederick Sport Leadership Lecture Series, held every October on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College. In seven years the lecture series has welcomed over 119 leaders in the sport industry to share insight and expertise with the LCSC Community.  Dr. Van Mullem received his doctorate in Sport Ethics from the University of Idaho and his scholarly interests focus on coach development and ethical sport leadership.
