LEWISTON, Idaho – Officials from Lewis-Clark State College and the College of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls will sign an articulation agreement to facilitate the transfer of CEI graduates with either an Associate of Arts/Science degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree into baccalaureate degree programs at LCSC.
The agreement will be signed by LCSC President Cynthia Pemberton and CEI President Rick Aman on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 3 p.m., PDT, in the Capitol Building’s main floor rotunda in Boise during the Idaho Legislature’s Education Week. The agreement provides for closer coordination and communication, including pre-advising, between the two schools.
“Lewis-Clark State College is very excited to strengthen its partnership with the College of Eastern Idaho and to make its four-year programs even more accessible for CEI students,” said Pemberton. “We look forward to offering CEI graduates a more streamlined opportunity to pursue bachelor’s degrees at LCSC – especially online.”
The agreement will help with the transfer of credits from CEI to LCSC so students may complete four-year degrees without unnecessary road blocks. The agreement also provides affordable access for students in eastern Idaho as LCSC has the lowest tuition among public four-year institutions in the state.
“College of Eastern Idaho is excited with this new transfer relationship between LCSC and CEI,” said Aman. “This new partnership will provide our students with the opportunity to complete a number of baccalaureate degrees and support our students in their goals of degree completion and advanced career prospects.”
LCSC offers over 30 degree and certificate programs fully online including 13 bachelor’s degrees across a range of disciplines such as business, nursing, early childhood development, humanities, justice studies, sport administration, web design, and general studies. The college was recently ranked 11th in nation for online associate degree offerings by Best College Reviews. US News regularly ranks the college as one of the West region’s top 10 public schools and top 25 overall.
Upon completion of the AA or AS degree at CEI, the academic courses taken at the Idaho Falls college will transfer to LCSC and the student will be considered core certified. Students may be granted admission to LCSC with junior standing, contingent upon having met the conditions of the agreement. To complete the degree, a minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper division level and the final 32 credits earned prior to graduation must be completed at LCSC.
For students who complete an AAS degree at CEI, they can also transfer credits to LCSC, but they still may be required to meet LCSC core requirements. Also, up to 50 technical credits from CEI may be applied toward a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree at LCSC in a similar program. A minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper division level and the final 32 credits earned prior to graduation must be completed at LCSC to obtain the degree.
LCSC has signed similar articulation agreements with the College of Western Idaho in Nampa, and North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene.
CEI was founded as Eastern Idaho Technical College in 1969. It became a comprehensive community college known as CEI in July 2017. CEI offers two-year degrees and certificates in the areas of general education, business and technology, health, and trade and industry.
LCSC offers more than 130 degree and certificate programs from seven academic and two career-technical education divisions.
