Branting to give Zoom presentation on rise of athletics in L-C Valley on May 27

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College Institutional Historian Steven Branting will give a Zoom presentation on the rise of athletics in the Lewis-Clark Valley called “Blood, Sweat and Cheers” on May 27 at 4 p.m.

The presentation is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required. To preregister, visit the LC State alumni website and scroll down to the red register bar for the event. Once registered, an event link and password will be emailed to the participant so they can join the Zoom event.

Branting’s presentation will discuss how sports and recreation were viewed differently in towns and villages in the days before radio and television. The presentation will focus on the rise of athletics in the Lewis-Clark Valley from its early days of baseball in the 1870s.

There will be a chat function where participants can ask questions during the presentation.
