LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College’s Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSE) program has received an LC State Presidential Proclamation from President Cynthia Pemberton and a Governor’s Proclamation from Gov. Brad Little.
The proclamations designate May 1 as IPSE Day at LC State and in the state of Idaho. This date coincides with the national IPSE Day.
LC’s IPSE program, SPARC, and its counterparts at Boise State University and the University of Idaho are supported by the statewide Employment Capacity Leveraged through IPSE program (ECLIPSE). ECLIPSE is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration and aims to strengthen collaboration among higher education, vocational rehabilitation, families, employers, community partners, and self-advocates.
The SPARC program, which stands for Students and Professionals Accessing Resources in the Community, functions in partnership with the Lewiston Independent School District and is dedicated to teaching students with disabilities aged 18-21 key skills to achieve independence, employment, self-advocacy, and more. Through SPARC, students attend an academic and functional program each morning focused on their goals post-school. In the afternoon, students gain experience at worksites throughout the community. Students are also given access to LC State’s gym, library, clubs, and other campus activities.
