Joseph Taylor was one of three graduate speakers at the 2026 GED commencement ceremony Tuesday at Lewis-Clark State College.
“My path led me here, to the Adult Learning Center, and what I found here was more than just a place to earn my GED,” said Joseph Taylor, one of three graduates to speak at the ceremony. “I found people who believed in me before I believed in myself. I found structure, support, encouragement, and opportunity. … We all go through moments where we feel stuck or unsure of ourselves. Those moments do not define us. What defines us is what we choose to do next.”
Terri Lynn McNeill and Kimberly Ruth Lake also spoke at the ceremony. Faculty Senate Chair, Budget Planning & Assessment Chair, and assistant professor of engineering technology Charles Bell spoke at the ceremony, and Senior Vice President/Vice President for Student Affairs Andrew Hanson conferred the degrees.
Also in attendance was Christine Hagedorn Reilly, program director of adult education and GED with the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education.
Tuesday’s event served as an opportunity “to celebrate the graduates’ success and encourage them to further their educational pursuits,” said Michelle Nelson, interim director of the Adult Learning Center and assistant dean of Career & Technical Education.
Overall, LC State serves approximately 200 students with GED services each year, with 90 total graduates in the past year.
