America 250 the focus of fifth annual Student Democracy Day

LEWISTON, Idaho – The community is invited to participate in the fifth annual Lewis-Clark State College Student Democracy Day on Thursday, July 23.

Students ages 12 and older can attend this free event dedicated to civic engagement in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. This year’s event coincides with the America 250 celebrations.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. at the LC State Student Union Building, where students will learn about the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence through games and interactive activities.

Following the introductory activities on campus, students will visit Lewison City Hall and the mayor’s office, then tour the Lewiston Tribune. A lunch break is scheduled at the Lewiston Public Library; attendees are responsible for bringing their own meals. Participants will then get a behind-the-scenes look at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories’ manufacturing process.

The event will come to a close at 4:30 p.m. at the SUB.
