Provisional Admission to the Teacher Education Program requires a student to have passing Praxis scores for any Praxis exam required for their main certification area. Most students will not complete the Praxis requirement until the semester before their internship. A student can apply and be admitted Conditionally without Praxis scores, but will have the condition of passing all Praxis exams required for their main endorsement before being placed for their internship.

Praxis scores need to be reported to LC State by midterms of the semester before your internship starts (summer not included). If your Praxis scores are not reported to LC State by midterms of the semester before your internship, your internship placement will not be guaranteed and your placement will not occur until district staff return after summer.

If considering an academic program that leads to a professional license or certification in your state, it is highly recommended that you first seek guidance from the appropriate licensing agency in your home state BEFORE beginning this academic program located outside your state, or upon changing states. Admitted with conditions such as raising GPA, passing Praxis, working on interview skills, etc.

Have passed all Praxis required for main certification area (Elementary – 7001 series; Secondary – varies by major), and completed any conditions identified in acceptance letter. 

Completed fingerprints and are cleared for Secondary Internship or Elementary Internship II.

• Background check:  You must clear an initial background check (name & SSN) through State Police agencies. A copy of this check must be in your file.
• Improvisational writing sample
• In-person interview with panel of professional educators 

The interview panel will give numerical weights for the improvisational writing sample and the in-person interview, and then make a recommendation for admission.

Final admission to the Teacher Education program is decided for each applicant by the full faculty based upon review of the application materials and outcomes of the interview process.  

Applicants will be notified of their admission status in a formal letter.

NOTE: There are some detractors that affect admission into the teacher education program.  Those detractors are:

• Incompletes - patterns of incompletes on transcripts
• Withdrawals - patterns of withdrawals on transcripts
• Para-competencies - personal characteristics/attitudes exhibited by the students such as racism, intolerance, and chronic lateness that are inconsistent with the teaching profession
• Moral turpitude - Conviction of a felony can prohibit you from receiving a teaching certificate in Idaho and could make you ineligible for the LCSC teacher education program.  Disclosure of infractions of any law is necessary.

To graduate from the CDA PACE program, students must have taken the Praxis 7001 series of prior to PACE Summer 2 (Internship I). Endorsement area PRAXIS exams must be passed before starting Internship II.

Students can pick up a Program Information Form (PIF) from the Division Office, from the Registrar's Office, or download one from the Registrar's website.

Students need to complete the top portion, select their major, and sign at the bottom. Once completed, the form should be submitted to the Teacher Education & Mathematics Division office in Spalding Hall 114.

The PIF that you filled out to declare your major is also used to assign you an advisor. Follow the steps for declaring your major. Once the PIF is received, we will assign you an advisor. We'll send you a letter to let you know who that advisor is and how to contact them. You will need to contact your advisor prior to registration each semester for advising and registration release.

You can also find out who your advisor is by logging into your WarriorWeb account and looking for the "My ID and Advisor Name" link in the Student Menu. If you have no advisor listed, follow the steps for declaring a major.

First you must meet with your advisor and discuss your course plans. Your advisor will release you, and then you should be able to login to your WarriorWeb account and register for classes. Before you can register, be sure you complete the "Conditions of Registration - DO THIS FIRST" found on your Student Menu.

All professors have a mailbox located within the main Teacher Education & Mathematics Division office in Spalding Hall, room 114.

Each instructor keeps their own calendar for appointments. You can contact them by email or by telephone to set up an appointment. Office hours and contact information can be found on their office door, in the Division Office (SPH 114), or on our Division's faculty directory page.

Once you become an LC State student, you MUST use your WarriorMail email account for all means of electronic communication with your advisor, your instructors, or other officials at LC State. Any correspondence from you through your WarriorMail email account is considered official communication.
