DACA

“Lewis-Clark State College is committed to providing a learning environment that affords people of all backgrounds and identities the opportunity to achieve their highest educational goals.” Excerpt from Vision Statement, President’s Commission on Diversity

On September 5th, President Trump announced that he will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and has tasked Congress to develop legislation addressing immigration. The DACA program provided some individuals who were brought to the United States as children temporary reprieve from deportation.

In President Fernández’ statement to the campus he said, “We understand that this decision may impact, whether directly or indirectly, some of our students and their families. As such, we will do all we can to provide the students with support and guidance.”
