Program status update

TRIO Talent Search staff are pleased to share the good news that LC State has received program funding for this school year.

Official confirmation arrived Sept. 16, 2025, and staff are working hard to make up for the delay in providing services. We will continue to update students, families and schools we work with. Please check your email regularly and respond promptly to texts, calls and emails so we can best serve you.

Fall events

Several no-cost field trips and events are planned for this fall. (Scroll down for a list.) To participate in activities requiring travel, your parent or guardian must sign the two documents below (students 18 and older may complete their own forms).

Talent Search mission:

LC State's TRIO Talent Search program helps make college possible for students whose families are on a limited income and whose parents didn't graduate with a four-year college degree. We serve students in grades 6-12, and individuals up to age 27 who are seeking a GED. 

TRIO ETS is 100% federally funded. Nationwide, over 387,600 individuals are enrolled in 471 ETS programs. Our outreach serves Idaho schools in Grangeville, Kamiah, Kooskia, Lapwai, Orofino, and Timberline.

Services Provided:

  • Academic advising and mentoring by TRIO professionals, who work with students to master: 
    • Study skills
    • Time management
    • Organizational skills
    • Goal setting & achievement
  • Cultural trips & activities
  • STEM projects that incorporate families
  • Information on colleges, vocational and technical schools
  • Visits to area college campuses
  • Tutoring services
  • Career-development exploration & activities
  • Academic testing and preparation
  • Help applying for schools
  • Assistance with financial aid forms
  • Help with scholarship searches
