First Year Foundations

The SD107: First Year Foundations course is designed to support your academic transition to college. In this course, students develop essential skills for success both inside and outside the classroom. With a focus on academic achievement, campus engagement and long-term planning, the course helps students better understand themselves, their environment, how to access resources, and how to persist and achieve their goals at LC State and beyond.

The class introduces you to:

• Academic inquiry
• Critical thinking
• Connecting students to the college community

The classes will share common topics, but faculty and staff from many departments will teach the individual sections. You will have opportunities to explore topics from a variety of perspectives while developing skills that will help you succeed in college.
