Registration under way for 2013 Garden Plein Air

The LCSC Center for Arts & History (CAH) is now accepting applications for Garden Plein Air 2013 artists. Garden Plein Air 2013 is part of the CAH Dinner from the Garden. The dinner and plein air paint-out take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 4 - 7 p.m. in Pioneer Park in Lewiston, and artists are welcome to spend the entire day in the park painting.
Plein Air artwork is submitted to the CAH the week following Dinner from the Garden for the Garden Plein Air 2013 Exhibition, opening Friday, September 20, during Beautiful Downtown Lewiston’s Art Walk. The show runs through November 27.
Plein air generally refers to the act of painting outdoors. Artists can submit as many pieces as they would like. A registration fee of $10 for two paintings will be collected, with no limit for the number of pieces an artist can submit. A maximum of three pieces will be chosen for the show. Work will be due to the CAH on Wednesday, September 19.
Dinner from the Garden is a Service Learning partnership opportunity between CAH staff, Jenifer Junior High students and teachers, LCSC Natural Sciences students, artists, gardeners, and community members working together to present an evening of programming about sustainability, local foods, community gardens. Live music is also featured at the event. Dinner is set-up picnic style in the park, and attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, families, and friends. Attendees will enjoy a freshly prepared dinner while being entertained by Hard Travelin' and the Plein Air painters. Service items (i.e. plates, bowls, silverware, glasses, etc.) are from the CAH's Plate Project; focusing on low-impact table settings, and reduce-and-re-use policies.
The cost of the dinner is by donation and can be made at the CAH gallery during normal gallery hours or at the park on the night of the event.
