Business Basics workshops at LCSC

The Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College is offering a Business Basics workshop series starting Wednesday, Sept. 25. Anyone interested can attend just one, pick and choose, or take the whole series.
The schedule is as follows:
1. BUSINESS FEASIBILITY
Before you make major decisions about your business or your future, you need the right information. You need to know what it will take to be successful. Your breakeven point and your cash needs are important numbers. This workshop will help you examine the feasibility of your business goal, where to focus your attention, and how to plan your next steps.

2. MARKETING AND SALES
Customer service is important for any business but Marketing is about a whole lot more. Before spending the big bucks, you want the right information, a pricing strategy, an understanding of your best customer's motivations, sales goals, and a plan of action. This workshop will help you get there.

3. WEBSITES AND SOCIAL MEDIA
No, not all businesses need a website. Yet, with the investment in time and money diminishing to almost nothing, any business can get on the web. This workshop will help you understand the fundamentals, purposes, terminology, content considerations, updating, design, keywords, and resources to make it happen.

4. WEBSITE SUCCESS WITH SEO AND MARKETING
Getting your website seen by your potential customers can be a challenge. Our guest instructor makes a business of optimizing his client's websites so the search engines rank them higher. Part is the science of putting the right words in the right places and part can be purchasing ad-words. This workshop will give you a better understanding of search engines and website marketing.

5. FINANCIAL REPORTS AND RAISING CAPITAL
Businesses need accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping in order to generate good financial reports. An owner needs to understand financial reports in order to make good financial decisions. Banks and investors want those reports before considering providing capital. This workshop will provide the fundamentals of basic accounting, using the reports for good decisions, and what lenders are looking for when they review your circumstances.

6. START-UP DECISIONS, REGULATIONS, & TAXES
The start-up process should begin only after the entrepreneur has figured out the marketing, operations, and finances, and the endeavor looks feasible in the plan and to the team. This workshop will look at the important steps and decisions regarding: business structure, government regulations, taxes, registrations, records, insurance, and resources.

Pre-registration is required for each workshop. You can register online at REGISTER or contact the ISBDC office at 208.792.2465. All workshops are held on the LCSC Campus from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at the Sam Glenn Complex, Room 204. The cost is $30 Per Workshop. Payment is collected at the start of each workshop. Cash and checks are accepted as payment. Ask about scholarships for rural Idaho participants.
